Scottsville is the seat of Allen County, a small town of about 4,200 people 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Bowling Green on US 231. It is a wet county with a handful of restaurants, a country club, and the 50-mile shoreline of Barren River Lake State Resort Park. Most travellers pass through for a lake afternoon, an antique stop or a farm stand, and sleep in Bowling Green or at the state park.
