Framlingham
Give Framlingham one night, or a half-day if you have a car: the castle takes 1.5–2 h, the town 45 min, and there is no train station.
Framlingham is a small Suffolk market town built around a Norman castle with a curtain wall you can walk. The town itself is compact and walkable, but the nearest rail stations are 6–8 miles away, so most visitors arrive by car or taxi. One night covers the castle, the church and the pubs; a half-day works if you are driving between Ipswich and the coast.
