Goiana
Half a day: see the historic churches and one beach, then move on. A full day if you add the Tejucupapo monument and a catamaran ride.
Goiana is a small city in Pernambuco's Zona da Mata, 78 km north of Recife. It has a cluster of 17th‑ and 18th‑century churches, a handful of quiet beaches and the Tejucupapo battlefield where local women defeated Dutch troops in 1646. Most travellers use it as a half‑day stop between Recife and the beaches of Itamaracá or Tamandaré.
