San Esteban
Half-day stop on the Ilocos coast: see the Spanish watchtower, walk Apatot Beach, then move on to Vigan or Candon.
San Esteban is a small Ilocos Sur town with a 16th-century church, a Spanish watchtower and a long cream-sand beach. Most travellers pass through on the Manila North Road; the town is quiet and the beach is undeveloped. A half-day covers the sights; an overnight works for a beach stay.
