Boischatel
Skip as a base: sleep in Québec City and come out for Montmorency Falls in 2–3 hours, or use Boischatel as one night on the Côte-de-Beaupré drive.
Boischatel is a residential town of about 6,500 people on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, 17 km east of Québec City and facing Île d'Orléans. Its one big draw is the Boischatel side of Montmorency Falls Park; the rest is golf, a riverfront park, ancestral houses along the New France Road and the start of the Côte-de-Beaupré. Most travellers see it in half a day and sleep in Québec City.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- Canada ↗Visa-exempt travellers flying to or through Canada usually need an eTA; check your passport on the official Government of Canada site (canada.ca) and apply only there.
- Canada ↗A Parks Canada pass is needed to stop in national parks such as Banff and Jasper; some spots (for example Moraine Lake) are reached only by shuttle or tour, so book ahead.
- Canada ↗Keep well away from bears, elk and moose; carry bear spray on Rockies trails and follow trail closures.

Getting around
A car is the practical choice: sights sit 2–6 km apart along Route 138 and Avenue Royale, and there is no local transit network of note. Cyclists use the Véloroute Marie-Hélène Prémont. Intercar coaches stop on Boulevard Sainte-Anne for Québec City and the Côte-de-Beaupré, but only a few times a day.

Boulevard Sainte-Anne strip (Route 138)
The only real lodging corridor: motels and small inns on the highway, walkable to Parc de l'Anse and a short drive to the falls.
Avenue Royale / village core
Quiet residential streets with a few B&Bs and gîtes; closest to the Vézina House and the New France Road.
Québec City (Beauport or Old Québec)
Better value and more choice; 20–30 min by car to the falls, and buses run along Boulevard Sainte-Anne.
