Peach Springs is a village of about 600 people on the Hualapai reservation, on the old Route 66 between Kingman and Seligman. There is no train and no scheduled bus: you arrive by car. The reasons to stop are the Grand Canyon Caverns, the one-day Hualapai whitewater rafting trip on the Colorado, and a bed between Kingman and the Grand Canyon. One night covers it; two if you add the river.

Getting around

Car only. Arizona Route 66 runs through the village; I-40 bypasses it to the south and the two meet only at Kingman and Seligman. Fuel and food are sparse on the 82-mile Kingman–Seligman stretch, so fill up before you leave either end.

Safety

A small, quiet reservation village; the real risks are desert heat, long empty stretches of Route 66 with no fuel, and wildlife on the road at dusk. Carry water and fill the tank before you leave Kingman or Seligman.
  • No train and no scheduled bus: without a car you cannot get here.
  • Long gaps with no fuel or services on Route 66 between Kingman and Seligman; carry water.
  • Summer afternoons reach 35–40 °C; hike and tour early.
  • Cell coverage is patchy outside the village; download offline maps.
  • Reservation land: follow posted rules and do not enter closed areas.
