Lovina is a 10 km string of seven fishing villages on Bali's calm north coast, 5 km west of Singaraja. It is a base for dawn dolphin boats, Banjar Hot Springs, Brahma Vihara Arama and Menjangan diving, not a beach-resort town. Two nights covers the highlights; three if you dive.

Getting around

Walk the coast road and beach lanes; rent a scooter (Rp 50,000–90,000/day) for hot springs and waterfalls. Local bemos run the Singaraja–West Bali coast road (Rp 5,000 one way). No regular long-distance bus: Perama and private cars handle transfers.

Watch out

Safety

Calm, low-crime and easy to walk; the real risks are scooter crashes, strong midday sun, unlicensed dive operators and beach rubbish after rain.
  • Dolphin boats often outnumber dolphins; the trip is fixed at Rp 60,000 (≈ US$4) per person.
  • Some hotels sell unlicensed dive trips: see the dive centre and confirm certified divemasters before paying.
  • Central black-sand beaches carry plastic rubbish; time walks for a falling tide.
  • Cockfights and gambling are illegal and cruel; do not attend.
