Quincy is a 40,000-person river town in Adams County, western Illinois, near the state's westernmost point on the Mississippi. It is known for four historic districts with 1830–1930 architecture, an Amtrak link to Chicago, and its role as a 19th-century river port. Quincy is best explored by car or on foot. Sidewalks are good in the historic districts, but parts of Broadway are not pedestrian-friendly. Downtown Maine St. sights cluster within a short walk; the airport, mall and Amtrak station need a car or taxi.
