Cleethorpes is a small Lincolnshire seaside resort on the south bank of the Humber, merged into Grimsby and about 2 h from Sheffield by rail. Most people come for a day: promenade, pier, fish and chips, the Meridian line. One night is enough unless you are caravanning or using it as a cheap base for Grimsby and the Humber bank.

Getting around

The centre is walkable: station, promenade, pier and Market Street are within 15 min on foot. Stagecoach buses run frequently between Cleethorpes and Grimsby and along the Promenade. Taxis are plentiful; a dozen firms cover the two towns. A car helps for Tetney reserve and the holiday parks.
