Zierikzee
Give Zierikzee one full day and one night: walk the old harbour and gates in 2–3 h, climb the Dikke Toren, then use it as a base for the Delta Works.
Zierikzee is a small historic harbour town on Schouwen-Duiveland with 568 listed monuments, three surviving city gates and the oldest still-playing carillon in the Netherlands. It has no railway station and no airport, so you arrive by bus or car. Most visitors see the centre in half a day; one night lets you add the Delta Works, the beaches at Burgh-Haamstede or the Flood Museum at Ouwerkerk.
