Beloeil sits on the west bank of the Richelieu River, facing Mont Saint-Hilaire, 36 km from Montréal. It is a residential town with a compact old core: a heritage circuit of 45 panels, two marinas, a golf club running since 1923 and a dense strip of restaurants along rue Richelieu. Most travellers use it as a half-day stop on the Richelieu Valley route or a single overnight. Two nights only if you add Mont-Saint-Hilaire hiking or the Chambly fort.

Getting around
A car is the practical choice: Route 116 runs along the railway, Route 223 (Chemin du Richelieu) follows the river. The old village is walkable end to end in about 20 minutes. Exo's Montréal–Mont-Saint-Hilaire commuter line stops at McMasterville, about 2 km from the Beloeil core, so you still need a taxi or bus for the last leg. Bikes work well on the riverside roads.
