Serra do Itajaí National Park protects one of the largest continuous remnants of Atlantic Forest in Santa Catarina, but it is not a conventional park with a single gate and visitor centre. Access is arranged through municipal parks, rural communities and trails around its perimeter. The park lacks full visitor infrastructure; prior authorization from ICMBio is required for any sector. The best-known access point is Parque Natural Municipal Nascentes do Garcia (Parque das Nascentes) on the Blumenau side, where short loops and a full-day hike to Morro do Sapo are possible. The dry season (May–October) offers the firmest trails and clearest weather.
