Hadleigh is a small Suffolk wool town of about 8,300 people on the River Brett, with 246 listed buildings, a 15th-century timber-framed Guildhall and a High Street of timber and brick houses, some with 17th-century pargeting. It has no railway station, so it works as a half-day stop by bus or car between Ipswich and Sudbury, not as a touring base.

Getting around

The town is small enough to see on foot; the High Street, Angel Street and Benton Street hold most of the listed buildings. There is no railway station, so arrivals are by bus (Beestons 91 between Ipswich and Sudbury) or by car on the B1070 or the A1071, which now bypasses the town. Regional Cycle Route 48 passes through.
