Miragoàne
Skip Miragoàne unless you have a specific cargo-port reason: the town offers little for travellers and the road from Port-au-Prince is dangerous. A half-day stop is enough if you pass through.
Miragoàne is Haiti's third-largest port, a poor town with a history of bauxite mining and piracy rest stops. The Reynolds power plant is gone, electricity is unreliable, and the main activity is stevedoring. There are no tourist sights, and the road to Port-au-Prince is notorious for armed robbery. Most travellers should skip it.
