Remich is a 3,000-person wine town on the left bank of the Moselle, the river that forms the Luxembourg–Germany border. The whole town is a 1 km riverfront quay with cellars, restaurants and a riverboat dock, and buses run free from Luxembourg City in about 35–40 minutes. It works as one night, or as a half-day stop paired with Schengen or Mondorf-les-Bains.

Getting around

The town is walkable end to end in about 15 minutes. Bikes are the local norm: Rentabike Miselerland has rental and return stations along the Moselle. Buses 175 (Luxembourg City), 180 (Mondorf-les-Bains), 185 (Schengen) and 450 (Grevenmacher) serve the Gare Routière, and all public transport in Luxembourg is free.

Watch out

Safety

Very safe for a small river town; the real risks are the unlit riverside path at night, fast cyclists on the quay and drinking on terraces before a 40-minute bus ride back.
  • Public transport in Luxembourg is free, but you still need a ticket for cross-border buses into Germany (check).
  • Riverboat and cellar-tour schedules are seasonal and often need booking ahead; confirm before you travel.
  • The Moselle here is a working river with locks: keep clear of mooring lines and don't swim from the quay.
