Go for one full day by car: Buxton and Uncle Tom's Cabin in the morning, downtown Chatham by late afternoon. Without a car, skip it.
Chatham-Kent is a spread-out municipality of small towns between Windsor and London, about 104,000 people, with no single walkable core. Its draw is Black history from the Underground Railroad era, at Buxton and Dresden, plus farmland, wineries and Lake Erie shoreline. You need a car and one day; two if you add Rondeau or a festival.

A car is effectively required: sights sit 20–40 min apart on county roads, and Ride CK buses run five routes in Chatham only, roughly 06:15–19:15 with no evening or Sunday service. VIA Rail stops at Chatham station, 360 Queen St, on the Windsor–Toronto line; FlixBus serves Chatham from Windsor, London, Toronto and Detroit. Highway 401 exits 81 and 90 are the main approaches.
