Give Akure one full day and one night as an Ondo State stop: palace, Ijapo market, one hills or lake run. Two nights only if you add Idanre or Owo.
Akure is the capital of Ondo State and the seat of the Deji of Akure, a Yoruba kingdom whose palace sits in the middle of town. It is a working Nigerian city, not a resort: markets, university campuses, government offices and a spread of hotels in the Alagbaka district. Most travellers pass through on the Lagos–Owo road or use it as a base for Idanre Hills and Owo. One night covers the centre; two nights let you add a day trip.

Getting around
Commercial minibuses and shared taxis run the main roads; the big terminals are Old Garage, New Garage, Benin Garage and Ado Garage. Keke (three-wheeler) and okada (motorbike) taxis fill the gaps. Distances across town are short — 10–20 minutes by car outside rush hour. Agree the fare before you get in, and expect the price to be quoted higher for a visitor.
