Olongapo
Give Olongapo 2 nights as a Subic Bay base: dive the wrecks, walk the Waterfront, then move on to Zambales beaches or back to Manila.
Olongapo sits on the east shore of Subic Bay, 3–4 h by bus from Manila, and most of what visitors call "Subic" is here or in the adjoining freeport. It is a diving and duty-free town rather than a beach town: wreck dives, a walkable waterfront with free monuments, malls and a busy nightlife strip at Barretto. Two nights covers the bay; add nights only if you are diving or using it as a base for Zambales.

Colour-coded jeepneys are the main transport and run fixed routes; fares start around ₱8 for the first 5 km and are posted inside. Tricycles cost about ₱8 per person per route but drivers may ask more with luggage. Taxis operate from the Subic Bay Freeport Zone at fixed rates. Streets are well marked and driving is on the right, but traffic rules are enforced strictly.
