Base here only if you have a car and a reason (CSUN, a cheap bed, the mission): 1–2 nights, not a sightseeing hub.
North Valley is the northern half of the San Fernando Valley: Arleta, Granada Hills, Lakeview Terrace, Mission Hills, Northridge, North Hills, Pacoima, Panorama City, Sun Valley, Sunland, Sylmar, Tujunga and the separate city of San Fernando. It is residential and car-first, with a Spanish mission, a free car museum and CSUN as the anchors. Most visitors pass through on I-5 or the Metrolink lines rather than sleep here.

Getting around
A car is the default: I-5, I-405, CA-118 and I-210 cross the area, and distances between sights are 5–15 km. Metro buses run on the main boulevards but are slow; Metrolink commuter trains stop at Northridge (weekdays, Ventura County Line) and Sun Valley and Sylmar/San Fernando (daily, Antelope Valley Line).
