Vitré is a low-risk small town; the real issues are cobbles, quiet streets after dark and Sunday or Monday closures rather than crime.
  • Many restaurants and shops close Sunday evening and Monday; check before you plan a dinner.
  • The old town is cobbled and slopes up to the castle: wear shoes you can walk in.
  • Rochers-Sévigné is outside town and has no useful bus service; go by car or taxi.
