Venice is a small Gulf-coast city in Sarasota County, about 20,000 people, built around a 1920s planned downtown of Northern Italian style. It is a slow, car-first place: a walkable historic core, a shark-tooth beach, and a large winter snowbird population. Two nights covers it; three if you add the Legacy Trail or a day in Sarasota.

Getting around
A car is the practical choice: sights are spread along US-41 and the beach is 3–5 km from downtown. Sarasota County's SCAT bus runs local routes and a beach route in season. Bikes work well on the flat Legacy Trail. Rideshare is available but thin late at night.
