Hull is a narrow peninsula of sandbars and causeways at the tip of Boston's South Shore, about 16 km southeast of downtown. It has 5.6 km of hard-packed beach, a 1928 carousel and a lifesaving museum, and the MBTA ferry runs to Boston's Long Wharf year-round. Most visitors come for a single beach day or one night; the town is small and the season is short.

One main road, Nantasket Avenue, runs the length of the peninsula; the MBTA 714 bus runs hourly along it and connects to the ferry terminal. A car is easiest for day trips off the peninsula; the ferry to Boston is the car-free option.

A low-crime beach town; the real risks are rip currents and sun on the beach, summer traffic on the single road in and out, and drinking on an empty stomach at the bay-side bars.
  • Beach parking is $40 for out-of-state cars, $15 for Massachusetts residents — arrive early in summer.
