High PointHigh Point, North Carolina
Give High Point one night, or a half-day for the furniture sights — unless you are here for the April or October Market, when hotels sell out and prices spike.
High Point is the furniture capital of the world: over 8 million sq ft of showroom space and a spring and fall trade market that nearly doubles the population for 7–10 days. Outside market weeks it is a small Piedmont Triad city with a handful of furniture sights, a good museum and easy rail links to Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Charlotte. Most travellers use it as a stop, not a base.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

Downtown / North Main Street
Walkable to the furniture library, the chest of drawers and the Amtrak station; the J.H. Adams Inn sits here.
Airport and Sedgebrook area
Chain hotels near GSO, better for early flights and free parking; you need a car for everything else.
Market-week overflow
During Market, rooms across the Triad sell out and residents rent out homes; book months ahead or sleep in Greensboro.

Watch out
Safety
- Market weeks in April and October: hotels sell out across the Triad and rates jump — book months ahead or stay in Greensboro.
- Sights are spread out; without a car you will rely on sparse buses and rideshare.
- Summer afternoons are hot and humid; plan indoor showrooms and the museum for midday.
- Some furniture showrooms are trade-only and closed to the public outside Market — check before you drive out.
