Base in Ede for 2 nights only if you want Hoge Veluwe by bike; otherwise sleep in Otterlo or Apeldoorn and skip the town.
Ede is a mid-sized Dutch town of about 112,000 people on the western edge of the Veluwe, 25 minutes by train from Utrecht. The town itself is ordinary; its value is as a cheaper, better-connected base for Hoge Veluwe National Park, the Kröller-Müller Museum and the heath at Ginkelse Heide. Come for the forest and the bike paths, not for the streets.
