Addington Highlands
Go for 1–2 nights only if you have a car and want dark skies or Bon Echo: no car, no trip; no bus, no train, no taxi rank.
Addington Highlands is a rural township of about 2,500 people in the Land O Lakes area of southeastern Ontario, spread across the villages of Denbigh, Flinton, Kaladar, Northbrook and part of Cloyne. There is no town centre to walk: you drive between a general store, a museum, two dark-sky viewing sites and Bon Echo Provincial Park. One night covers the dark-sky pad; two nights add Bon Echo and a swim. Everything runs on Highway 7 and Highway 41, and winter roads here are the real hazard.

Getting around
A car is the only realistic way to move here. Highway 7 runs east–west through Kaladar (part of a Trans-Canada branch between Sudbury and Ottawa), and Highway 41 runs north–south between Pembroke and Napanee. There is no local bus or train, and no taxi rank; fuel up in Kaladar, Cloyne or Northbrook before evening. Winter roads can be treacherous, and wildlife on the road at dusk is common.
