Give Grand Falls one night, not two: the gorge walk, the zip line and a potato-country drive fill a day; the town is a stop on Route 2, not a base.
Grand Falls (Grand-Sault) is a town of about 5,200 on the Saint John River, 210 km northwest of Fredericton and 65 km southeast of Edmundston on the Trans-Canada Highway. The river drops 23 m through a gorge in the middle of town, which is the whole reason to stop. Potato farming and processing pay the bills; tourism is seasonal and most attractions run June to early September. It works as one night between Fredericton and Edmundston, or as a lunch-and-gorge break on a longer drive.

Getting around
You need a car. The town spreads along Broadway Boulevard and the gorge is a short drive from the highway exits; there is no local bus network worth using. Maritime Bus stops here on the Edmundston–Moncton route, but once you arrive you are on foot unless you book a taxi. The gorge lookouts and the campground are walkable from downtown.
