Prince George is BC's northern capital and a road, rail and air junction where Highway 16 meets Highway 97, at the Fraser and Nechako rivers. It is a working forest-industry and government city, not a resort: most travellers use it as a bed and a resupply stop between Prince Rupert, Jasper, Dawson Creek and the Alaska Highway. The sights are spread out and a car helps.

A car is the easiest way to reach the spread-out sights; rental desks are in town and at the airport. BC Transit buses run over a dozen routes, mostly every 30 min, with single fares around $2.25 adult and day passes around $4.50. Taxis and Uber/Uride cover the centre and airport.

A safe, ordinary northern city; the real risks are winter driving on Highways 16 and 97, long distances between services and cold exposure from Nov to Mar.
