Myrtle Beach is the built-up centre of the Grand Strand: a long public beach, more than 60 mini-golf courses, dozens of full-size golf courses, seafood houses and family amusement parks. It is car-first and crowded in summer. Most visitors come for a beach-and-golf week; a short trip covers the strip, Broadway at the Beach and one show.

Getting around
A car is the practical default: sights are spread along US 17 and parking is scarce in summer. Coast RTA buses run on main roads with limited hours; fares $1.50 adult, $1.25 students, $0.75 children. Taxis are metered at $2.80 a mile plus $1 per extra passenger; a cross-Grand-Strand trip can reach $50. Rideshare works in the core.
