Athens is a small Limestone County seat of about 24,000 people, 20 miles west of Huntsville and 15 miles south of the Tennessee line. It is a car town: a compact historic downtown, a veterans museum, a greenway, and interstate exits 351 and 354 on I-65. Most travellers pass through; a night here is enough unless you are using it as a cheaper bed for Huntsville.
