Kaş is a small Lycian harbour town on the Teke peninsula, about 4 h by bus from Antalya and 2.5 h by road from Dalaman airport. Beaches are shingle and the water is clear; the draw is the old town, the Antiphellos ruins, boat days to Kekova and the Lycian Way. Three nights covers it without rushing; two is enough if you only want the harbour.

Getting around

The centre is walkable in 15 minutes end to end. Dolmuşes run to the Çukurbağ peninsula, to Kalkan and Demre, and along the coast; the stop is near Merkez Süleyman Cami by the waterfront. There is no ride-hailing, and taxis quote a flat price.

Watch out

Safety

Kaş is a small, low-crime resort town and walking at night is normal. The real friction is transport: no ride-hailing, flat taxi pricing, and shingle beaches that cut bare feet.
  • Beaches are shingle, not sand: bring water shoes.
  • Taxis have no meter agreement in practice; the peninsula run is a flat 350₺ (2025) and drivers do not negotiate.
  • Midnight dolmuşes to the peninsula no longer run.
  • Phellos and the hill ruins have thorny undergrowth; wear long trousers.
  • Most businesses close after Republic Day (29 Oct).
  • Prices in Old Town restaurants have risen toward European levels; check the menu before sitting.
