Bozburun is the southern of the two peninsulas west of Marmaris: a 100 km loop of coves, marinas and hill villages with roughly 20,000 residents. There is no single centre. You sleep in one village — Selimiye, Bozburun or Söğüt — and drive or sail between the rest. Two nights is the minimum; three lets you add a boat day and a Carian Trail walk. Without a car, plan around the twice-hourly bus from Marmaris and accept that the far south end of the road is out of reach.

Getting around

You need your own vehicle. The coast road is convoluted but in good repair, and it ends at Serçe Limanı, so Bozukkale and Karamaka are reached by boat or a long hike. Bus 10/11 from the edge-of-town station in Marmaris runs about every two hours via Değirmenyanı, Hisarönü, Orhaniye, Turgut, Selimiye and Bozburun, taking about an hour to Bozburun. Dolmuş and boat services link the villages in season; check locally.

Orhaniye

Closest to the Marmaris turn-off and to the Kızkumu sandbar; good for a short first or last night.

Turgut and Bayır

Inland hill villages with pansiyons; cooler, cheaper, and a base for walks rather than swimming.

Watch out

Safety

Very low crime; the real risks are winding unlit roads after dark, swimming from unmarked rocks, and summer heat on exposed trails. Carry cash: ATMs are rare outside Söğüt.
  • Distances look short on the map but the road winds: allow double the driving time you expect.
  • Beaches are gravel or pebble; bring beach shoes.
  • Outside the main villages there is little or no mobile signal from some operators.
  • The peninsula is seasonal: many pansiyons and restaurants close from November to April.
  • Fuel up in Marmaris or Söğüt; filling stations are sparse on the loop.
