Garachico is a small north-Tenerife harbour town rebuilt on lava after the 1706 Trevejo eruption. The draw is compact: the natural pools at El Caletón, a handful of churches and a fortress museum, all walkable in half a day. It works as a one-night base for the north coast or a half-day stop between Icod de los Vinos and Puerto de la Cruz.

The centre is flat and small; walk everywhere. Titsa bus 363 links Garachico with Icod de los Vinos and Puerto de la Cruz roughly every 30–60 min. A car helps for the TF-42 coast road and the TF-82/TF-421 route over the Teno mountains.

Safety
- El Caletón is a natural lava pool with no lifeguard: swell and sharp rock, check conditions before swimming.
- Many restaurants close between lunch and dinner service; plan around Spanish hours.
- Parking fills when tour buses arrive midday; use the free car parks at the western end and along the coast road.
- North-coast weather is cloudier and wetter than the south; pack a light rain layer even in summer.
