High River
Give High River half a day or one night as a stop on the Calgary–Lethbridge drive: walk the murals and museum, then move on.
High River is a small southern Alberta town on the Highwood River, 67 km south of Calgary on Highway 2. It is a filming location for the CBC series Heartland and a heritage main street with murals, a railway-station museum and a rodeo grounds. Most travellers pass through on the way to Lethbridge or use it as a quiet base for fly-fishing and birding rather than a destination in itself.
