Mangilao
Skip unless you are visiting the University of Guam. Half a day covers the campus and the cliff views. Sleep in Tumon, not here.
Mangilao is a residential and university village on the east coast of Guam, home to the University of Guam, Guam Community College and Pacific Islands University. It has no beach, no nightlife and no tourist strip. The main reason to stop is the university campus, which sits on a cliff with wide ocean views and a popular walking loop. Most travellers sleep in Tumon and skip Mangilao entirely.

- Oceania ↗Oceania's island states guard their farms and reefs at the border: tick 'yes' on the arrival card for any food, plant, animal product, soil or used outdoor gear, and let the officer decide.
- Oceania ↗Across the tropical South Pacific, cyclones are possible from November to April: choose insurance that covers weather delays and keep one spare night before a long-haul departure.
- Micronesia ↗Micronesia runs on a handful of weekly flights, so one cancellation can cost several days: build slack into every connection between islands.
- Guam ↗US entry rules apply: visitors need a US visa, ESTA under the US Visa Waiver Program, or eligibility for the Guam–CNMI Visa Waiver Program. Check US Customs and Border Protection for your passport; the Guam–CNMI waiver does not allow onward travel to the rest of the US.
- Guam ↗Guam is outside the US customs territory: complete the Guam customs declaration on arrival and declare food, plants and animal products.
- Guam ↗Drive on the right, as in the mainland US; a valid foreign licence is accepted for short visits.
