Skip Merijärvi unless you need a quiet stop between Oulainen and Kalajoki: one hour for the rapids, then move on.
Merijärvi is a tiny municipality (pop. 1,152) in the Southern Oulu region, best known for the Pyhänkoski rapids. There is no accommodation beyond one cottage and no restaurant beyond a gas station. Most travellers use it as a 30-minute break on the road between Oulainen and Kalajoki.
