North Haven is a small island in Penobscot Bay, reachable only by ferry from Rockland. It has a year-round population of about 350 and a handful of inns, restaurants and galleries. Most visitors come for a slow-paced weekend of cycling, kayaking and eating at Nebo Lodge or Calderwood Hall. The island is best as a 2–3 night escape, not a day trip.
