Waterford
Give Waterford one night, not a base: the trail, deer park and museum fill a half-day, then move on to Port Dover or Brantford.
Waterford is a village of about 3,100 in Norfolk County, 60 km southwest of Hamilton, set in farmland of tomatoes, corn and former tobacco. Its draw is a flat 15 km rail trail, a free deer park and a small museum in an old pickle factory. Most visitors pass through on the way to Port Dover or use it as a quiet overnight stop.
