Cloghane is a small Gaeltacht village on the north shore of the Dingle Peninsula, about 40 km west of Tralee. Come for Mount Brandon, coastal walks and beaches rather than a packed sightseeing schedule. Public transport is sparse: Local Link route 273 has only two services a day to Cloghane and Brandon, so a car makes exploring easier.

Safety
- Conor Pass is narrow and twisty; poor visibility in mist makes the drive hazardous. Vehicles over 7.2 m long or 2 tonnes may not use it.
- The road descending north from Conor Pass to Cloghane is steep; drive slowly and stay alert.
- Weather on Mount Brandon can change quickly, bringing mist, slippery rock and exposed drops.
- After wet weather, the river on the Loch a'Dúin trail may be impassable.
- Check seasonal opening and meal availability, and arrange accommodation and dinner ahead.
