Kongsberg
Give Kongsberg one night, or a day trip from Oslo (about 1 h 20 min by train): the silver mine tour is the reason to come, and it runs 18 May–31 Aug only.
Kongsberg is a former silver-mining town in Buskerud, about 1 h 15 min by car or 1 h 20 min by train from Oslo. Its mine works, 8 km west at Saggrenda, are the main sight and the underground train into the tunnels runs 18 May–31 Aug only. The town itself is compact and walkable, with Norway's largest church by seating and a mining museum on the main square. Most travellers see it as a half-day or one-night stop on the way to Numedal, Rjukan or the Hardangervidda.
