ParklandParkland, Florida
Skip Parkland as a base: no hotels inside the city. Stay in Coral Springs or Coconut Creek and drive in for golf, airboat rides and parks.
Parkland is a residential city in western Broward County, about 32 km (20 mi) northwest of Fort Lauderdale, built around parks and golf-course subdivisions. There are no hotels inside the city limits and almost no sightseeing in the usual sense. It works as a half-day or one-night add-on to a Coral Springs or Fort Lauderdale stay: golf, an Everglades airboat ride, a dog park and a handful of restaurants.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

Getting around
You need a car. Broward County Transit runs routes through Parkland, but service is sparse and slow: a Fort Lauderdale Central Terminal bus with a transfer at West Terminal was listed at about 1 h 50 min in 2018. Distances between the golf clubs, the airboat launch and the restaurants are 5–15 min by car; rideshare is thin outside the centre, so book returns in advance.

Watch out
Safety
- No hotels inside the city limits: book in Coral Springs or Coconut Creek and drive in.
- Airboat seats sell out in season: book ahead and confirm the operator's current season before you drive out.
- Summer heat and humidity are serious; carry water and go out early.
- Hurricane season runs Jun–Nov, peaking Aug–Oct: watch forecasts and know your airline's change policy.
- The 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting is part of the city's recent history; the school site is not a visitor attraction and there is no public memorial access.
