Go for one evening, not a base: 35 min by MRT from KL, eat sate Kajang, walk the old town, sleep in Kuala Lumpur — check the last MRT back before you commit.
Kajang is a Selangor town 20 km south of Kuala Lumpur, known across Malaysia as Satay Town. The old quarter around Stadium Kajang MRT is compact and walkable in an hour; the rest is housing estates and highways. Most travellers come for dinner and go back the same night. One night makes sense only if you are heading south to Seremban or Port Dickson the next morning.
