Brenton Point is the southern tip of Aquidneck Island, where Ocean Drive runs out of road: a free state park with an open kite field, a rocky shore of flat shelves and tide pools, and the overgrown remains of the Reef, the shingled estate Theodore Davis built in 1889. The Carriage House shell and the clock Tower still stand in the woods a few minutes' walk behind the field, and the granite Portuguese Discovery Monument sits near the water. There are no long trails and no camping; this is a 1–2 hour stop on a drive, best at sunset or early morning, and it costs nothing to enter.
