Müden (Örtze) is a small heath village in the south of the Lüneburg Heath, in the district of Celle, Lower Saxony. It sits where the Wietze and Örtze rivers meet, ringed by forest and heathland, and is known for its cobbled lanes, its barn café and its moorland sheep. It is a walking and cycling base, not a sightseeing town: the nearest larger places are Soltau (about 30 km west), Celle (about 32 km south) and Uelzen (about 45 km east). One or two nights is enough, and the heath bloom in August and September is the reason most people come.
