Taguig is Metro Manila's modern edge: Bonifacio Global City (BGC), a planned, walkable business and dining district built on a former military base, plus McKinley Hill's Venice Grand Canal mall and the Manila American Cemetery. It is clean, safe and easy on foot, but it is a bubble — most travellers use it as a comfortable base and leave for the old city.

Getting around

BGC is the most walkable part of Metro Manila: wide pavements, shade and enforced crossings. BGC Bus runs air-conditioned routes inside the district (Beep card only, flat fare — check current routes). Elsewhere in Taguig use Grab or taxis; jeepneys and tricycles cover the roads east of C-5. The MRT-3 Ayala and Guadalupe stations are the nearest rail links, then a Grab into BGC.

Watch out

Safety

BGC and McKinley Hill are among the safest, most policed parts of Metro Manila; the risks are traffic, midday heat and petty theft in crowded malls. Outside those districts, take Grab after dark rather than walking.
  • Traffic on EDSA and C-5 can double any journey; avoid 07:00–10:00 and 16:00–20:00.
  • BGC Bus routes and fares change; confirm on the official BGC Bus page before relying on it.
  • Manila American Cemetery requires photo ID at the gate and closes on Christmas and New Year.
  • Outside BGC and McKinley Hill the city is ordinary Metro Manila sprawl; do not wander far on foot after dark.
