What works with kids, by age band.

  • Pavements are broken and narrow: bring a carrier, not a stroller. The Savannah and the Botanic Gardens are the flat, wide, shaded places for children.
  • Emperor Valley Zoo suits ages 3–10: open early, shaded, small enough to finish in 1.5 hours.
  • Coconut water and ice cream vendors along the Savannah are a treat at midday, but keep sunhats on and offer water.
  • Taxis and maxis rarely have child seats: ask the hotel for a car with one, or bring a travel booster.
