Give Port Moody one day, not a base: SkyTrain in for Rocky Point Park, the 3 km Shoreline Trail and the Murray St breweries, then sleep in Coquitlam or Vancouver.
Port Moody is a small waterfront city at the east end of Burrard Inlet, about 40–50 min from downtown Vancouver on the SkyTrain Millennium Line. It is mostly residential, with a compact strip of parks, a pier, a trail and four breweries near Moody Centre station. Hotel beds are scarce, so most travellers visit on a day trip and sleep in Coquitlam, Burnaby or Vancouver.

A low-crime residential suburb; the real risks are trail and water ones. Sasamat and Buntzen lakes are cold, the log boom on Buntzen's north side marks where you cannot swim or boat, and cell coverage thins on the ridge trails.
