The Okanagan is a 135-km lake valley in British Columbia's interior, framed by mountains, with Kelowna at the north end and Osoyoos on the US border. It is known for wineries, fruit orchards, lake beaches and hot, dry summers. Towns sit 20-60 minutes apart on Highway 97, so a car turns the whole valley into day trips; without one, choose Kelowna or Penticton and use the limited intercity buses.
