Oeiras
Visit Oeiras for a half-day stop on a Piauí road trip, or overnight if you time a religious festival. Otherwise, skip it.
Oeiras was the capital of Piauí from 1759 to 1851 and retains a sleepy colonial core. Its main draw is the hilltop statue of Our Lady of Victories and the Holy Week processions. Outside festival dates, the town is quiet and can be seen in a few hours.
