Northern Ontario covers about 90% of Ontario's land and holds roughly 6% of its people, so the region is a set of separate trips, not one. Choose the Lake Superior North Shore for the drive and parks, the Near North for a short run out of Toronto, the Northwest for Thunder Bay and Kenora, or the Northeast for Sudbury, Timmins and the James Bay train. Two to four nights in one sub-region beats a week in the car.
