The Northern Cape is 361,000 km² with about 1.3 million people — bigger than Germany, with a fraction of the traffic. Sights sit 200–400 km apart, so the province is a self-drive loop, not a place to tick off from one base. Fuel up whenever a station appears. Two or three stops in 5–7 days beats five stops in the same time.
